The managing editor in charge of executing With Intelligence’s private markets strategy will be filling a vital role for the company as we look to significantly increase our footprint across private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure and natural resources.

The job.

In this newly-created position, the editor will work with the existing private credit and real estate editors, as well as our data research teams and investor editors, to build out and drive forward our coverage of GP and investor activity across various private markets, a key strategic goal for the company.

The ideal candidate will have a strong reporting and editing background in asset management, preferably in private markets, and good knowledge and relationships with key alternatives managers and investors.

We are looking for proven experience helping reporting teams to build fruitful source networks, uncover news ahead of rivals and regularly deliver exclusive stories. Given the importance of private markets data to the company’s growth, the ideal candidate should also be comfortable using data to help both contextualize and create articles.   

The successful candidate will play a key leadership role as part of our team of 70 global asset management journalists and be asked to represent the company where appropriate to speak at and moderate events.

They will also be a go-to subject matter expert internally for a range of departments including marketing, events, investor relations, subscriptions and commercial, and be expected to work with senior leaders in these areas to help build our community of private markets subscribers and event attendees.

The target audience for our coverage is primarily asset raisers at asset management companies and industry service providers, as well as investment consultants, institutional investors and wealth intermediaries. 

The Responsibilities.
  • Leading With Intelligence’s coverage of private markets globally 

  • Growing a network of sources among asset managers, service providers and a range of allocators 

  • Ensuring private markets editorial teams are hitting targets in terms of volume and quality

  • Being the go-to expert on private markets, both internally and externally

  • Serving as an expert voice for events and video panels and representing the company at conferences

  • Working with the various private markets editors and stepping in to help edit copy on a regular basis

  • Working with our data research teams as they build out coverage of private markets

  • Conducting annual performance reviews of the various editors in the  private markets team

The requirements.
  • A strong financial editing and reporting background uncovering exclusive stories on a regular basis

  • Experience in identifying, establishing and maintaining fruitful relationships with a broad range of key industry contacts 

  • Confident and experienced as a moderator and speaker at events    

  • Experience gathering and analysing research and turning data into actionable intelligence is a plus

  • Excellent organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail

  • Results-oriented, high personal integrity and strong work ethic
